Trying Out Some New Flashlights

Gotta give a huge thank you to Jacob Manalang for letting me try out a couple of his flashlights! I'm going to be testing these out for the next couple weeks, so stay tuned for some videos and posts talking about each and then comparing them to some other lights. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect flashlight, but I'm impressed with what these lights have to offer.

I used my phone in my crappily lit dorm room for this photo, so sorry about the quality. I promise I'll get some better photos of these sweet lights up in a about a week! The lights I'll be trying out are the Thrunite TI5 and TI4, and the newer FourSevens Preon P2. I'm thinking I might eventually purchase some or all of these lights in the future. They have a lot of the things I'm looking for in an EDC light.

Off of very first impressions, I'd say I'm the impressed with the TI5, which is the single AAA light. It's a good size with good outputs. These are all clicky lights, but the TI5's clicky seems so much nicer to me. It's got the ability to do momentary on, which is something all of the lights I own currently lack. It's really nice to be able to temporarily hold the button down to quickly use the light.

I've never really carried 2 AAA lights before, so it'll be interesting to see how I like the Preon P2 and the TI4. Both seem like great lights too, but they have minor quirks that I've noticed so far. The TI4's clicky feels sort of off to me for some reason. It's easy to use and everything, but it's not as nice as the TI5. The clicky on the Preon is definitely the worst of the bunch. It can do momentary on, which is nice, but it's not as firm as the other ones. I thought I wouldn't like all the ridges on the Preon, yet they aren't noticeable at all. I'll probably talk more in-depth about my first impressions of each in a video or something.

I'm very excited to carry all of these. I'm hoping I like them all enough to consider adding ones to my collection in the future. Again, thanks a ton to Jacob for giving me the chance to try these out. Stay tuned for more videos and posts on them soon! Thanks for looking!

1,000!

I just realized my YouTube channel hit 1,000 subscribers! Yay! Thanks a ton to everyone that has checked out my videos and subscribed! It's crazy to think that 1,000 people hit that subscribe button. I don't have any fancy contests or giveaways in the works to celebrate this, but I will keep posting lots of blog posts and videos. My channel has had tremendous amounts of growth in the past few months, so I'm excited to see where it goes in the future. Thank you all for your continued support! It really does mean a lot to me! I'm just an average girl that does this for fun. It's cool that you all enjoy hearing what I have to say about different gear. Stay tuned for lots more awesome videos in the coming months! Thanks for looking!

Update On The Search For My First Gun

Hey everybody! I don't have much to update you all about my first gun purchase, but I think I have a better idea of which one I'm leaning towards getting. I got a lot of great advice on the video I posted, so thanks to everyone who offered suggestions and advice!

As of now, I'm leaning towards doing an AR-15 build. At first I said I was leaning towards a shotgun, but a lot of people brought up the point of lots of recoil with them and that they weren't as fun to shoot. I do want my first gun to be fun to shoot, so I think the AR-15 would be best for that purpose. A gun is a gun, so I think people would generally be scared of any gun that was pointed at them. For my main purpose of home defense, I think an AR-15 would be perfectly adequate.

I'm also interested in building an AR-15 since it's incredibly customized to what I want/need. I love putting things together, so it should be a fun process overall. You can definitely expect to see videos once I get some parts in. I still need to do more research, handle some guns, and take a few classes, but I'm pretty positive this is the route I'll be going. I'm very excited to see how it all turns out! Stay tuned! Thanks for looking!

My First Zippo!

I completely forgot to talk about how I picked up my first Zippo a couple months ago. I remember back when I made my very first video on YouTube that I talked about how I'd make videos on knives, multitools, flashlights, and Zippos. All throughout my time on YouTube, I've never once made any sort of Zippo video. For some reason, I just never went through with picking one up all these years. I was buying some stuff on Blade HQ around Black Friday and needed to spend a little extra money to get free shipping. Normally, I'd just find some random knife or light and add that to my cart. This time around, I finally decided to get a Zippo since I've already tried so many knives. It'll probably come to no surprise to you all that I picked up a purple Zippo.

I don't smoke or anything, so I don't realistically have a use for this thing. I pretty much just bought it for the cool factor. It's annoying that the fuel evaporates so quickly. I've got a butane insert that I'm going to put in it so that doesn't happen anymore. I'm happy I picked a Zippo up finally, but I don't think I'll build up a collection or anything. Thanks for looking!

EDC Gear Collection Update: February 2017

I got a request to do a collection update soon. I really want to make a video sometime, but honestly I've got so much gear that the video would be way too long. I'm looking to slim down my collection soon. Once I get my collection down to where I want it to be, I'd probably make a video or two about it. I tried to take a bunch of photos of all the different gear I've got. In this post, you'll see the state of my current collection of knives, pens, flashlights, and multitools. I store my gear all over the place, so I've probably left out a couple things. This should be the majority of my collection. Without further ado, here's all the photos.

fixed blade collection: Esee Izula and Mora Eldris. I've also got a Mora Companion in my car.

I'm very happy with my fixed blade collection. I don't really see myself picking up any new ones or selling any of these.

folding knives from left to right: CRKT Squid, ZT0566, Spyderco Ladybug Hawkbill, Boker DW-2, Spyderco Native 5, Cold Steel Mini Tuff Lite, Kershaw Half Ton, Kershaw Launch 4, Spyderco Cricket, Kersahw Shuffle, Boker DW-1, CRKT Jettison, Spyderco Spin, Boker Subcom, and Spyderco Ladybug.

I can see myself selling/trading/giving away about 10 of these blades.

flashlights: FourSevens Mini Mk II, FourSevens Preon P1, Olight i3e, and Spotlight Speck. I've also got another few that I missed, so you'll see those farther down in this post.

I plan on keeping most, if not all, of these flashlights. If anything, I'd like to add a few more to this collection in the future.

pens: Pilot Metropolitan, Fisher Cap-o-matic, Parker Jotter, two Zebra 301s, Hinderer Investigator, Fisher bullet space pen, and Lamy Safari.

I plan to downsize this collection as well. I only like a few of these, so the rest will be sold or traded.

multitools: Victorinox Alox Bantam, Gerber Shard, Leatherman Squirt P4, and Victorinox Classic.

I don't necessarily want to get rid of any of these, but I would like to try some more multitools in the fuutre.

random things I missed: Kershaw Cinder, Wenger EvoGrip 11, Thrunite T01, and Nitecore Tube

My collection has sort of gotten out of hand recently. I've had a lot of gear coming in, but not a lot leaving my collection. Once I get a lot of stuff sold, I'll be much happier with my collection. Thanks for looking! Hope you enjoyed seeing the gear I've currently got! If you're interested in buying any of this gear, just stay tuned over the next few months.

EDC Pouch Dump: February 2017

I can't believe it's already February! January really flew by quickly for me. Now that it's a new month, I figured I'd do an EDC update. Honestly, I probably didn't make enough changes to constitute this update, but oh well. It's always fun to do EDC dump photos.

The only thing that I don't carry in the pouch is the Native 5. I really like this knife a lot, so I'll be carrying it in the waistband every so often. Everything else goes in the pouch. The contents of the pouch are a FourSevens Mini Mk II, Fisher Bullet space pen, Leatherman Squirt P4, Gerber Shard, Spyderco Ladybug, and Victorinox Classic. I'd like to switch up some of the multitools eventually. I like the Gerber Shard as a one piece multitool, but I'd like some more options. I also want to try out another small multitool to rotate with the P4. Who knows if any of that will happen any time soon. It is something you all can eventually look out for. Thanks for looking!
